Order Certified Copies

Note: The Order Entry Management System (OEMS) has been replaced with the Certified Copy Center (CCC) system effective April 27, 2019.  A USPTO.gov account is required to use the Certified Copy Center to place orders.  Don't have a USPTO.gov account?  Go to the MyUSPTO Home page and select "Create an account".  Patent Center users can use their registered USPTO.gov account to place orders. Patent Center users must log in with a registered USPTO.gov account (used to access Patent Center registered), or a simple USPTO.gov account (email address and password) to begin placing orders.  For assistance creating your USPTO.gov account, please contact the USPTO Contact Center (UCC) at 800-786-9199,​​​​ Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

Note: If an official filing date has not yet been assigned to an application, a certified copy cannot be requested and the Patent Center links for ordering certified copies will be made inactive. Once an official filing date is assigned, the links will be made available.

Records available from the USPTO may be certified as true copies by the Patent and Trademark Copy Fulfillment Branch. Certified copies are authenticated by the USPTO seal with the signature of an authorized certifying officer. Presentation patent copy are first page of Grant with ribbon, seal, appropriate Director signature and authorized certifying officer.

Certified Application As Filed includes the original application documents and is commonly used when filing abroad and claiming benefit of the U.S. application's filing date.

When available, electronic uncertified copies of application documents may be viewed and downloaded at no cost by clicking the "Document and Transaction" tab in Patent Center. When the tab is selected, if the electronic view and download of the Image File Wrapper is not currently available for the application, “No Data Available” will be displayed.

Selecting Order certified copies in Patent Center opens the Certified Copy Center application.  If you are not logged in with a USPTO.gov account, you will be prompted to do so.

In CCC, select "Patent Application As Filed"  in the “Type of patent document” selection to order the original application papers submitted for the application you are currently viewing in Patent Center.

Select "Patent File Wrapper" in the “Type of patent document” selection to order the complete case record to date for the application you are currently viewing in Patent Center.

Select “Selected paper from selected file wrapper” in the “Type of patent document” selection to order a specific document for the application you are currently viewing in Patent Center. You may review and edit application orders selected during your Patent Center session. When you are finished making your selections and reviewing, please click the "Pay Now" button to continue. 

Note: The documents you order remain in your shopping cart until your Patent Center session has ended, even if you close the shopping cart browser window.
