Recent high school gradate Travis Edwards will share how he invented the Follow Through Fixer, an aid for basketball players to improve their shooting form. Travis will also talk about his journey through the pro se patent process, where he filed and was granted a patent for his Follow Through Fixer invention independently, without a lawyer or patent agent. This webinar is a great opportunity for teachers and students to learn about one way they can become patent owners, too. Juan Valentin, Education Program Advisor at the USPTO, will moderate the discussion.

- Travis Edwards, who is entering his first year at the University of Texas at Austin, in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Business (ECB) Honors Program, where he will work towards degrees in electrical engineering and business. Travis is a passionate innovator and entrepreneur. He is a huge sports fan and enjoys watching and playing football and basketball. His enthusiasm for innovation and sports merged when he created the Follow Through Fixer.
- Juan Valentin, who is an Education Program Advisor in the Students and Learners Division at the USPTO, where he is responsible for the development and implementation of educational projects of national and international scope, with a particular emphasis on directing and coordinating the development of STEM, design-thinking, or invention-focused projects infused with intellectual property concepts. Juan holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University.
