| 1. A liquid crystal display apparatus, comprising:
a thin film transistor (TFT) substrate and a color filter (CF) substrate;
a first linear aperture formed in said TFT substrate within an area of an electrode and at an angle oblique to an edge of
said electrode, said first linear aperture terminating prior to reaching an internal edge of said electrode;
a second linear aperture formed in said CF substrate at an angle substantially parallel to said first linear aperture, said
second linear aperture having at least one narrowed portion along its length when seen looking perpendicular to a plane of
said substrates; and
a first auxiliary structure extending from said second linear aperture at an angle generally parallel to a first edge of said
electrode.
