| 14. A volume of hydrocarbon obtained from an area that contains a subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir, the hydrocarbon obtained
by:
penetrating the subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir with a hydrocarbon-producing well;
extracting hydrocarbon from the subterranean hydrocarbon reservoir using the hydrocarbon-producing well;
providing at least one horizontal electric dipole transmitter and at least one receiver for obtaining electric or magnetic
field data at different times;
measuring horizontal gradients in a first component of the electric or magnetic field data along a first direction at the
different times; and
measuring horizontal gradients in a second component of the electric or magnetic field data along a second direction at the
different times; and
continuing to extract hydrocarbon from the hydrocarbon-producing well as the measured gradients at different times are used
to monitor depletion of the reservoir.
