1. An isolated antibody that specifically binds a human HMGB1 polypeptide, wherein said antibody binds said human HMGB1 polypeptide with a dissociation constant (Kd) of equal to or less than 39 nM, wherein said antibody comprises:
a) a light chain variable region from the antibody G4, SEQ ID NO: 17, and a heavy chain variable region; or
b) a heavy chain variable region from the antibody G4, SEQ ID NO: 19, and a light chain variable region; or
c) a light chain variable region having the 3 CDRs of the light chain of the antibody G4, SEQ ID NO: 17, and a heavy chain variable region having the 3 CDRs of the heavy chain of the antibody G4, SEQ ID NO: 19.
