| 1. In a processing system providing Internet compatible bidirectional communication, a method for providing local access to
processing system parameters for a local network, characterized by the steps of:
receiving a locally initiated User command requesting access to a web page;
validating authorization of said User command; and
generating an Internet browser compatible web page for display containing a system parameter associated with said bi-directional
communication in response to said validated User command, said generated web page being locally accessible via a web browser
resident in said processing system,
wherein said generated Internet browser compatible web page provides an interface enabled for User allocation of a domain
name to a device local to said processing system;
said allocated domain name for accessing said local device is only operative In said local network;
generating an alternative Internet compatible web page for display where said alternative web page supports allocation of
said specified domain name for a remote Internet web page which is associated with a web page address, wherein said specified
domain name for said remote Internet web page is operative in said local network for accessing said remote Internet web page,
where said remote Internet web page is capable of being accessed using the specified domain name or the web page address.
