1. A method for coating a surface of a substrate to enhance adhesive bonding to the surface, the method comprising:
(a) providing a substrate having a surface;
(b) introducing a vapor of prepolymer molecules to an atmospheric pressure air plasma to form a polymer reaction compound by fragmenting the prepolymer molecules with the atmospheric pressure air plasma; and
(c) depositing the polymer reaction compound onto the surface of the substrate with a high-velocity impact device at a velocity in the range of 10 to 200 meters per second.
