1. A method of employing memory cells of an integrated circuit, said method comprising the steps of:
storing configuration data in a plurality of memory cells of a configuration memory of said integrated circuit;
selecting unused memory cells of said configuration memory for use as scratchpad memory;
providing access to said unused memory cells of said configuration memory; and
enabling use of said unused memory cells of said configuration memory in a user mode as scratchpad memory.
