| 7. An apparatus, comprising:
a flexible cable portion, including:
a dielectric core extending the length of the cable portion, and
a conducting layer extending the length of the cable portion and surrounding the dielectric core;
a first antenna, at a first end of the flexible cable portion, to receive a digital signal and to propagate an electromagnetic
wave through the dielectric core; and
a second antenna, at a second end of the flexible cable portion opposite the first end, to receive the electromagnetic wave
from the dielectric core and to provide the digital signal, wherein at least one of the first and second antennas is associated
with a surface mounted assembly, and further wherein the flexible cable portion is associated with an axis extending the length
of the cable portion, and said first and second antennas comprise horizontally polarized antennas extending along the axis.
