1. A compressor having an internally mounted inverter, comprising:
a motor;
a compressor mechanism driven by the motor;
a housing main body having an opening and within which the motor is housed;
a lid which is mounted on the housing main body and which closes the opening;
a fixing member which fixes the lid to the housing main body;
an inverter which is provided outside of the housing main body and which controls the operation of the motor;
a power supply section which supplies power to the inverter;
a protective cover which covers the inverter; and
a power source control apparatus which allows a supply of power to the inverter by the power supply section when the protective cover is covering the inverter, and stops the supply of power to the inverter by the power supply section or carries out a prescribed safety measure operation when the protective cover is removed from the inverter;
the protective cover having a shape which restricts manipulation of the fixing member by covering a manipulation section of the fixing member when the inverter is covered.
